Storytime!
Storytelling is a special part of our nursery day. It is a time when children gather together, listen carefully, use their imagination, and become immersed in wonderful stories.
Each day we share a variety of books with the children. Sometimes we read favourite classics that the children know and love, and other times we introduce new stories that spark curiosity and excitement. The children enjoy looking at the illustrations, predicting what might happen next, and talking about the characters and events in the story.
Storytelling plays an important role in supporting children’s language and communication skills. As children listen to stories, they hear new words, learn how sentences are formed, and begin to understand how stories are structured. They also gain confidence in expressing their own ideas and thoughts during discussions about the story.
We also make storytelling interactive and fun. Children are encouraged to join in with repeated phrases, act out parts of the story, and use props or puppets to help bring the characters to life. These activities help develop imagination, creativity, and confidence.
Reading together also helps to build a love of books from an early age. By making story time enjoyable and engaging, we hope to inspire children to develop a lifelong love of reading.
Storytelling is a calm and enjoyable moment in our busy nursery day, where children can relax, listen, and let their imaginations grow.
